Developed firsthand expertise in Prophet 21 distribution
Paul began his career inside a distribution company operating
on CommerceCenter by Prophet 21 and its B2BSeller e-commerce
platform. His role expanded beyond website management into
product data, marketing, search, customer experience, and
distribution operations.
This gave him a practical understanding of how products, pricing,
inventory, customers, sales representatives, orders, and P21 data
come together in a distributor's e-commerce operation.
Extended a closed-source e-commerce platform
Without access to B2BSeller's source code, Paul created custom
functionality using AJAX, JavaScript, ASP.NET, middleware, SQL,
and direct P21 database integrations.
His work included product configurators, search enhancements,
performance improvements, technical SEO modifications,
customer-specific functionality, and custom P21 data lookups.
Each solution required both technical execution and a clear
understanding of distributor workflows, customer expectations,
and commercial value.
Became a nationally recognized P21 educator
The results of Paul's B2BSeller work led to invitations to teach
at national Prophet 21 and Epicor industry events.
His sessions covered e-commerce SEO, product search, website
performance, responsive design, P21 database integration, and
methods for extending B2BSeller beyond its standard capabilities.
These presentations established him as a subject-matter expert
at the intersection of Prophet 21, distribution, e-commerce,
and software development.
Built a specialized technology company from the ground up
Paul founded Triactive Media without financing from banks,
family, friends, or outside investors. He grew the company
through technical expertise, direct sales, customer relationships,
successful project delivery, and reinvested operating profits.
As the company expanded, he recruited technically capable employees
and developed a training model that transformed general development
ability into specialized knowledge of P21, distribution workflows,
e-commerce, and customer integrations.
His responsibilities have included executive leadership, financial
and operational decision-making, hiring, technical mentoring,
enterprise sales, customer strategy, and business continuity.
Led the creation of Phoenix
Following Epicor's announcement that B2BSeller would be discontinued,
Paul developed the strategy for a new enterprise e-commerce platform
built specifically for Prophet 21 distributors.
He worked with established customers to validate requirements and
determine feature priorities while directing the creation of a
scalable platform capable of serving the broader P21 market.
Paul led Phoenix's product strategy, solution architecture,
development priorities, customer collaboration, technical
decision-making, and migration plan from B2BSeller.
Guided the business through disruption and platform transition
While funding Phoenix, Paul continued operating Triactive Media's
profitable legacy consulting business. This required balancing
payroll, customer obligations, product investment, technical debt,
sales, and the company's long-term direction.
Shortly before Phoenix's general release, the COVID-19 disruption
caused the company's legacy revenue to decline by approximately
90% for the year. Paul and his team completed Phoenix, transitioned
customers from B2BSeller, and established it as the company's
primary technology platform.
Today, he continues to direct the platform's evolution as the
Prophet 21 ecosystem transitions toward cloud-based environments,
APIs, and new integration models.
